Maestro is from Washington, D.C. His interest in journalism is driven by his desire to learn about the world around him and to be a voice for underrepresented groups. He is very involved in his school’s photojournalism club, where he has produced work about a variety of topics, such as politics, gaming, comics, and entertainment. He also serves as the communications officer of the National Honor Society and as the executive chair of the Student Government Association. In both roles, he helps underrepresented youth as they go through high school. Maestro hopes to help people find their voice or to inspire them to reach out by their own means.
