Emily is from Illinois. Her interest in journalism arose from her desire to learn more about the various aspects that shape the world around her. She also took up an interest in journalism due to the countless hours she spent watching Univision newscasts when she was young. Emily is an editor for her school newspaper, a writer for her school’s literary magazine, and an actress in her school’s drama department. She is also a leader for the Latin American Student Organization at her school, a member of her high school’s varsity tennis team, and a teen volunteer at her local library. Emily wishes to heighten the voices of those silenced by their communities and to portray the stories of those who’ve been forgotten by the media.
