Emari is from New Jersey. Her growing interest in journalism has stemmed from the desire to spread awareness about social issues. Linking this interest in sociocultural studies, Emari hopes to use her voice to advocate for underrepresented minority groups. She is involved in her school’s Black Student Union, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and National Honor Society—among many other organizations. After high school, Emari plans to pursue Psychology, striving to link these interests to social change. Outside of the classroom, Emari loves poetry—being published and winning many competitions for it, along with painting.
